What is A "Food Safety Model"?




A food safety model is a template for states, counties, corporations and other entities to produce consistent legislation that provides HACCP oriented sanitation codes in their jurisdictions.

The FDA prepares food safety models which are designed to assist state and local agencies to formulate codes and regulations. They enforce only those mandatory provisions of laws and regulations concerning food service operations handled by interstate carriers. The USDA shares enforcement of labeling practices and Inspection of food processing plants..
